Obituary for William Steinbergs
William E. “Bill” Steinbergs, 65, passed away Wednesday December 27, 2017 at Halifax Health-Hospice, Port Orange, after a valiant 18month battle with Leukemia.
Bill was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada on July 6, 1952 to parents John and Aria Steinbergs. While his early years were in Canada, Bill and family moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1965. In the 1980’s Bill moved to the Daytona Beach area and has been there ever since.
After graduating from Lakeland High School, he attended Polk Community College. His varied careers included IMC in Mulberry, FL, management at both Woolco and Target department stores, Bass & Swaggerty food distributors and finally upscale home builders The Johnson Group.
An avid fisherman and boater Bill’s greatest passion was his hot rods, muscle cars and late model special editions like his Chevy SSR. Everything from Shelby’s to Corvettes and even Studebaker, were purchased, fixed up, driven and then sold to buy the next “project” some 60 or more. And we can’t forget the several Harleys that he customized.
Bill was preceded in death by both parents but is survived by his wife Linda Ann (O’Brick) Steinbergs and brother Andy Steinbergs, Vero Beach, FL and sisters Ruth Steinbergs, Athens, GA; Ingrid Foster, Lakeland, FL and Kathy Sofferin, Birmingham, AL.
