Obituary for William Welch

William Welch
WELCH, William

William A. “Bill” Welch passed to be with our Lord on Saturday October 28, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday November 18, 2017 at Lakeside Community Center (Port Orange City Complex), 1999 City Center Circle, Port Orange, FL 32129.

Bill was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, the eldest son of Shirley and Frederick Welch.
Moving to the Daytona Beach area in 1973 after completing his education where he had been an accomplished athlete throughout school. He carried that love of sports throughout his life.
A true outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending as much time in nature as he could.
With a beautiful voice, Bill was a talented singer and loved singing with family and friends. He performed often and loved it.
In 2005 he was given a terminal cancer diagnosis with less than 3 months to live. With his iron will and determination he fought the disease bravely for another twelve years.
Throughout his battle he helped and counseled many people battling the disease and shared with them his fighting spirit to never give up.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Robyn Zuber Welch; three daughters, Ashley (Michael) Contos, Patricia (Albert) Washington, and Jenna Lee Welch; two step-sons, Clifford (Susan) and Scott Sweezey; three grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, and Alexa Washington; four step-grandchildren, William, Collin, Josh and Robert Woods; three brothers, Greg Welch, Tony Crays and Michael (Jill) Welch; two sisters, Nancy (Darren) Bridges and Jennifer (Ari) Gleckman.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, William E. Welch, in 2013.
